STEVEN ‘STEVO’ HALPIN

‘Stevo’ was born near Brighton, West Sussex. He grew up skateboarding in the `80s which inevitably led on to surfing (despite the difficult conditions found on the south coast of England). He moved down to the relative surfing paradise of Newquay decades ago, but then spent many years going on long-term surf trips to every corner of the world searching and sampling some world-class waves. 

He eventually settled back into life in Cornwall around 2000, but he still retained the wanderlust: he hasn’t done a winter here in over 20 years! For eight of those, he lived off-grid in a woodland with no electricity or running water.

Stevo started Kook Juice Bar in Newquay with his French-Canadian wife, Helene, whom he met on a surf trip in Costa Rica and surfs every swell no matter what. Stevo loves to ride his surfmats, paipos, bellyboards, trays and handplanes too, depending on the crowds and surf conditions heading the local `fringe` surfing crew.
